The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC asked member business leaders to complete a brief survey encompassing economic outlook, growth projections, and challenges in the Harrisburg Region. Questions were asked in fourth quarter of 2023.
The results give us insights into how business leaders view the local economy, their current challenges, and the plans they have for the coming year. Similar surveys will be conducted on a quarterly basis.

The Harrisburg Region is a part of an eight county area referred to as South Central PA. With a population of nearly 2 million people and close to $100 billion in gross domestic product, South Central PA has a strong labor force driving economic growth for Pennsylvania and beyond.

This study was commissioned by the Chamber & CREDC in 2022 to review the Harrisburg-Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) (which covers Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties) to inform and guide equitable economic growth in the region.

In coordination with the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, Harrisburg University examined workforce participation and patterns in the downtown Harrisburg Area as part of its mission to support business creation and economic development.
