On Wednesday, December 17, the Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority of Harrisburg (ICA) approved a $50,000 grant to the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation to support downtown Harrisburg revitalization.
The General Assembly created the ICA in 2018 to strengthen the City of Harrisburg’s long-term fiscal health.
The ICA plans to support revitalization across the city. However, leaders are prioritizing downtown after recent business, retail, and restaurant closures. CREDC will use this initial funding to work with the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. Together, they will begin public engagement, planning, and coordination efforts.
City leaders, county leaders, state leaders and the Governor’s office will also be involved, with additional funding expected.
