CREDC Champions Community Growth with $5.1 Million in LSA Funding Requests for Local Projects

The Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) is pleased to report significant interest in the latest round of the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA) program. This year, CREDC fielded fifteen inquiries and helped facilitate ten applications, requesting a combined total of $5.1 million in funding. These applications support projects focused on renovation, construction, and vehicle acquisition—each designed to provide lasting benefits to local communities.

Working closely with each applicant, CREDC ensured that all project scopes met program eligibility requirements. Once finalized, the applications were submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for consideration. This collaborative effort highlights CREDC’s ongoing commitment to helping local organizations secure critical funding for transformative community initiatives.

If approved, these projects will make a meaningful impact in key areas across the Capital Region, including Harrisburg City, Susquehanna Township, Lower Paxton, and Derry Township. Proposed projects aim to improve infrastructure, enhance transportation options, and create spaces that enable local nonprofits to better serve their missions. From upgraded facilities to newly built spaces and reliable vehicles, the funding will directly support essential services and programs.

The LSA program presents a unique opportunity to invest in the future of our region by backing projects that promise long-term benefits for residents. CREDC takes pride in guiding applicants through the process and looks forward to witnessing the positive changes these initiatives will bring.

Twelve applications were submitted by CREDC in 2023 for nonprofits across our region.  Those applications were evaluated by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development and the Commonwealth Financing Authority throughout the past year.  The Commonwealth Financing Authority announced those 2023 applications in late October 2024. Seven of CREDC’s applications were awarded funding which together totaled slightly over $1.55 million of support nonprofit missions.

As the economic development arm of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, CREDC remains dedicated to fostering regional growth and strengthening the local economy. We are grateful to our investors for their dedication to community improvement and to the Commonwealth’s Department of Community and Economic Development for its ongoing partnership in supporting impactful local projects.
