Jamal Jones, the newly appointed Manager of Regional Initiatives at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, brings over two decades of experience in leadership and service to his role. With a rich background in business development, workforce programs, and community engagement, Jamal is set to make a significant impact on the region’s economic landscape.
A graduate of Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, focusing on Writing: Rhetoric, Genre, and Form, Jamal’s career has been marked by a commitment to fostering growth and opportunity. His most recent role as Program Manager of the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (CIE) saw him at the forefront of initiatives that nurtured innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. Prior to that, as the Director of Business Development and LERTA Administrator for the City of Harrisburg, Jamal played a pivotal role in supporting both new and established businesses. His efforts focused on job retention and growth, navigating financial incentives, and ensuring businesses met permitting and regulatory compliance.
Jamal’s experience extends to nearly a decade in workforce development, where he served as the Director of South Central PA youth programs with Pennsylvania CareerLink. His leadership in this sector was instrumental in shaping programs that equipped young people with the skills and opportunities needed for successful careers.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jamal is deeply invested in his community. He volunteers as a coach for youth basketball and soccer and serves on the Board of Managers at the Camp Curtin YMCA. Additionally, he is an Advisory Board Member of the Central Pennsylvania Film Commission, where he helps promote the region as a destination for film and media projects.
Jamal’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. In 2024, he was honored as one of Pennlive’s “Trailblazers and Trendsetters” for his dedication to uplifting his community and supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs. He was also recognized by City & State PA as a Black Trailblazer, celebrating his impact as a difference-maker in the Commonwealth.
As he steps into his new role at the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, Jamal is poised to continue his work in driving regional initiatives that foster economic growth and community development. His leadership and vision will undoubtedly play a key role in shaping the future of the Harrisburg region.
