What to Know About the Special Election in Cumberland County

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, voters in Pennsylvania’s 193rd Legislative District will go to the polls for a special election. In this election, voters will choose the next State Representative for the 193rd District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

This special election follows the resignation of former State Representative Torren Ecker. He stepped down after voters elected him as a judge for the Adams County Court of Common Pleas. As a result, the seat is now vacant.

Pennsylvania’s 193rd Legislative District includes parts of Adams and Cumberland counties. Overall, the district represents a mix of boroughs, townships, and rural communities.

In Cumberland County, the 193rd District includes the following municipalities:

  • Cooke Township
  • Dickinson Township
  • Penn Township
  • Shippensburg Borough
  • Shippensburg Township
  • South Newton Township
  • Southampton Township

Voters who live in these municipalities may participate in the March 17 special election. In addition, residents in Adams County who fall within the district boundaries may also vote on Election Day.
