HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 29, 2025) – The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC) has adopted an updated mission statement:
We are the region’s catalyst for economic prosperity.
This change reflects a more focused, memorable articulation of the organization’s core purpose while reinforcing its commitment to supporting business growth and regional success across Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.
“This mission reinforces that we exist to make a difference—for business, for the people in our region and for the communities we love,” said Ryan Unger, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC. “This updated mission is short, clear and powerful. We’re not just supporters of prosperity—we’re the ones actively creating the conditions for prosperity to thrive.”
The updated statement was developed by the Chamber & CREDC’s boards and executive committees. It aligns with the organization’s core values of inclusivity, collaboration, data-driven decision-making and positive storytelling.
In a joint statement, Kara Beem, Chair of the Chamber Board of Directors, and Shawn Leppo, Chair of the CREDC Board of Directors, shared their perspective:

With 900 members employing 130,000 people across the region, the Chamber & CREDC remains the only chamber in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties to hold the U.S. Chamber’s 5-Star Accreditation, an honor earned by only 1 percent of chambers nationwide. CREDC is the Certified Economic Development Organization in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.
