Harrisburg, Pa. (May 23, 2025) – The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC President & CEO Ryan Unger today released the following statement in response to the Harrisburg City Delegation’s call for the Chamber & CREDC to lead a comprehensive economic development plan to revitalize Downtown Harrisburg.
“It’s time to embrace this opportunity to reimagine a thriving downtown. We are grateful to our state legislators for their trust and confidence in the Chamber & CREDC to help lead this vital effort.
The road to revitalization is best done through regional collaboration. We’re eager to begin this important work alongside our elected leaders, the Commonwealth, city stakeholders, residents, and regional partners to catalyze an endeavor that strengthens Downtown Harrisburg’s economic prosperity for all.
While this work will have challenges, Harrisburg is well positioned to thrive. The assets that make downtown Harrisburg unique are as strong as ever—our unparalleled riverfront greenspace, the nation’s most beautiful Capitol, and a dynamic Arts District are all assets we can develop around for a better downtown.
Now is the moment to align vision with action and build a downtown that reflects the full promise of our capital city in this new era.”
About the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC
For 140 years, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC has served as the region’s catalyst for economic prosperity. The organization combines business, community, and economic development services to enhance the region’s vitality and livability. The Chamber & CREDC celebrates a storied history of being the catalyst that moves the city forward. The Chamber answered the call from Mira Lloyd Dock to lead the City Beautiful movement in 1900.
