Middle School Students Across the Region Showcase Knowledge and Civic Engagement
HARRISBURG, PA — The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC proudly hosted a local round of the National Civics Bee® on April 9 at Central Penn College, welcoming top middle school students from across the Harrisburg area to demonstrate their civic knowledge and passion for community impact.
The event was part of the nationwide National Civics Bee® competition, presented in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s The Civic Trust®. The program aims to inspire young Americans to actively engage in civics and build a deeper understanding of American democracy.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
- 1st Place: Millicent G., Hershey Middle School
- 2nd Place: Hrishaan A., Eagle View Middle School
- 3rd Place: Aarjavee K., Hershey Middle School

Open to all public, private, charter, and homeschool middle school students in the Harrisburg metro area, the competition challenged participants to submit essays on how they would use civics to improve their communities. Essay finalists were selected to compete in a live quiz and Q&A format, testing their civics knowledge in front of a panel of local leaders and supporters.
“The National Civics Bee is an incredible opportunity to promote civic education and inspire the next generation of community leaders,” said Ryan Unger, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC. “We’re proud to support programs that help build an informed, engaged, and empowered community.”
The three local winners will advance to the Pennsylvania state-level round of the National Civics Bee® that will take place on Friday, June 13. The state champion will earn a trip to Washington, D.C., to compete for national honors and prizes worth at least $50,000 in fall 2025.
