Whitaker Center Honors Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz’s Lauren Fenner As A Woman to Watch in the 2020 Women in STEM Awards Program

Whitaker Center will honor Lauren Fenner, Manager at Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF), as an award winner through the 2020 Women of Impact: Celebrating Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Awards Program. Lauren was selected in the Woman to Watch category, which recognizes a woman younger than 40 who has significant accomplishments and success in STEM.

Lauren has over seven years of experience in public accounting. She specializes in providing audit and review services to nonprofit organizations and is an essential member of the BSSF Nonprofit Practice. Additionally, Lauren is the Board Treasurer of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) South Central Chapter Executive Committee. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Lebanon Valley College.

“Lauren passionately supports the BSSF Nonprofit Practice and is dedicated to providing exceptional service to her nonprofit clients, allowing them to focus their time on the missions that drive them,” said Ken Wolfe, President and Managing Principal at BSSF. “She is also an avid volunteer with several professional and nonprofit organizations in the community. Lauren truly exemplifies a Woman to Watch, and we are very proud to celebrate this incredible accomplishment with her.”

Eight women and one organization were selected by Whitaker Center for their significant contributions to the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

“We had an incredible response to last year’s inaugural Women in STEM Awards and are excited to expand the program in 2020,” said Michele Holloway, Vice President of Development at Whitaker Center. “The nomination process was very competitive this year; we are excited to highlight the outstanding work our winners are doing.”

The Women in STEM Awards Program is an annual event to recognize the contributions of women in STEM throughout Central Pennsylvania. In light of recent state regulations regarding group gatherings, Whitaker moved the 2020 event from a two-hour luncheon to a month-long virtual celebration known as STEMtember. Throughout the month of STEMtember (September 2020), Whitaker will spotlight the personal stories of the award winners and provide several other activities related to the important work of women in STEM.

The Women in STEM Awards Program benefits Whitaker Center’s Girls in STEM Initiative, which encourages girls in Central Pennsylvania to develop an interest in STEM and foster equitable pathways to STEM careers.
