Smith Land & Improvement Corporation announces the return of Healthy Neighbors Fest to the West Shore Plaza in Lemoyne on Saturday, April 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Nine health and fitness partners will be on-site offering free health screenings, tips for healthy living, fitness sessions, healthy food samples, games, and giveaways for every age.
“We are proud to partner with some of Pennsylvania’s strongest health advocates and fitness enthusiasts as we transform our retail plaza into a community health asset,” says Rick Jordan III, president and CEO of Smith Land & Improvement Corporation, owner of the West Shore Plaza. “We’ve been a shopping destination since 1954, and at 98% occupancy, we are proud to be home to small and women-owned businesses that have created strong brand experiences and deep neighborhood relationships.”
2019 Healthy Neighbors Fest community health participants include:
• Girls on the Run Capital Area
• Healthy Kids Running Series
• UPMC Pinnacle
• The Peyton Walker Foundation
• Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank
• F2 Women’s Self Defense
• PA Breast Cancer Coalition
• Thrive Fit Co.
• American Heart Association—Central PA
• Susquehanna Style
• BOB 94.9
New this year is a Fitness Park in the Goodwill Keystone Area parking lot with fun activities for children and adults featuring Thrive Fit Co., Just Plain Yoga Studio, Healthy Kids Running Series, Girls on the Run Capital Area, and F2 Women’s Self Defense.
“A positive relationship with fitness is the key to sustainable health, and there is no better way to build one than by working with individuals and companies within the surrounding community to provide events like Healthy Neighbors Fest,” says Ashley Mentzer, owner, Thrive Fit Co.
“We hope area residents will join us at Healthy Neighbors Fest and take a few minutes to learn CPR and how to use an AED (defibrillator). Providing community members with these lifesaving skills could be the difference between life and death when faced with a cardiac emergency. Working together, we are protecting hearts and saving lives. We’re glad to be a part of this healthy initiative again this year,” says Julie Walker, executive director, The Peyton Walker Foundation.
“Whether it’s stopping in at True Value to get free health screenings with UPMC Pinnacle, donating blood in the bloodmobile, learning self-defense tips, or trying a yoga session at the Fitness Park, together we’re taking steps to greater health,” says Jordan III.
