Tri County Community Action hosts 13th Annual South Allison Hill Multicultural Festival May 9th, 1pm – 5pm

Harrisburg – On Saturday, May 9th Tri County Community Action will host the 13th Annual South Allison Hill Multicultural Festival from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. This event celebrates the cultural diversity of the South Allison Hill neighborhood and showcases the benefits of collaboration between residents, community service providers, local businesses and government officials.
Through a partnership with other area organizations: Boys and Girls Club of Central Pennsylvania, Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area, Recycle Bicycle, South Allison Hill Homeowners & Resident’s Association, and YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, this year’s festival is expected to exceed previous attendance records of more than 5,000 visitors to the South Allison Neighborhood.
“We are excited about our partnership with so many outstanding organizations in our area and for the opportunity to host this year’s South Allison Hill Multicultural Festival” said Kathy Possinger, Tri County Community Action Executive Director. “Community Action proudly works throughout all of Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry Counties, though our main office is located right in the heart of South Allison Hill. Because of our location, every day we have the privilege of experiencing firsthand, this positive, inspiring, and strong community at work. We are delighted to invite the public to join us on Saturday and experience the culture, the diversity, and the atmosphere here in South Allison Hill as we celebrate being part of one community together.” Possinger added.
The day will begin with a parade at 1:00 PM with the festival kicking off at 1:30 PM at the Heart of the Community Garden located at Derry & Kittatinny Streets, Harrisburg. A live stage will feature entertainment highlighting the talent of our youth, community agencies will have information to share about their services, and good food and children’s activities will round out a quality day for the whole family.
1:00 PM Parade begins at Derry & Kittatinny Sts. – Travels: Mulberry St. Bridge to Crescent to Swatara to 15th St to Vernon to 14th returning to Derry
1:30 PM Festival kicks off with welcome and announcements
2:00 PM Performers begin
