May 1, 2015 (HARRISBURG) One hundred volunteers from neighborhoods all over the city have registered to remove litter from the city’s streets, alleys, and public spaces. Many more are expected to sign up on the day of at one of the three check-in locations:
• Allison Hill –Tri County Community Action at 1514 Derry Street
- Uptown — Wesley Union AME Zion Churh at 5th & Camp Streets
- Midtown — 329 Harris Street
Currently, there are more than a dozen neighborhood cleanups planned throughout the city including along some of the city’s most visible public corridors. Volunteers can choose which specific area of the city they’d like to clean up. When volunteers visit a check-in location, they will be given information on joining a cleanup in that area. Only registered cleanups will qualify for litter disposal. All volunteers will receive trash bags, gloves, and water. Brooms, rakes, and other tools will be available, too.
Generous sponsors such as LCSWA, Pinnacle Health, and Sheetz have donated resources to help make this 3rd annual GHLC a success. City of Harrisburg, and Dauphin County are also part of the process to ensure proper collection and disposal of the litter.
The GHLC is part of the Great American Cleanup and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s “Pick It Up PA Days!”
