For the 3rd year in a row, Clean & Green Harrisburg coordinated the Great Harrisburg Litter CleanUp (GHLC) on Saturday May 2nd. This year more people participated in the citywide event than previous years resulting in
even more litter, electronics, and tires being removed from the city’s streets, alleys, and public spaces. The results are:
• 327 registered volunteers participated
- 16 tons of litter picked up & disposed of
- 3,000 pounds of electronics taken to Dauphin County Recycling Center
- 665 tires removed
Clean and Green Harrisburg would like to thank the neighborhood coordinators and volunteers who pitched in at multiple sites around the city to accomplish this. This significant achievement was supported by various sponsors and partners including LCSWMA, Pinnacle Health, Bridgestone, GreenWorks Development, Tiger Trash, Sheetz, City of Harrisburg, Dauphin County, WCI Partners, Weis Markets, and nrg.
“This event demonstrates the passion and commitment residents and businesses have for the city of Harrisburg, and LCSWMA is proud to support such impactful efforts” says Jim Warner, LCSWMA CEO. The GHLC is part of the Great American Cleanup and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s “Pick It Up PA Days!”
