State Budget Update & Temporary COVID-19 Limited Liability Protections Sent to Governor’s Desk

State Budget:

Today, Governor Tom Wolf signed into law House Bill 2536 and Senate Bill 1350. These bills provide funding for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s budget through June 30, 2021. The total appropriation for the fiscal year is $35.5 billion with $32.1 billion in state funds and $3.4 billion in federal stimulus dollars (including $1.3 billion of unallocated CARES funding). The budget does not include any tax increases or new taxes.

Limited Liability Protections:

Thank you to all of our members who took the time to weigh in and contact our regional PA House delegation on H.B. 1737 which was amended to include comprehensive, temporary, pandemic-related liability protections. The legislation passed the House by a vote of 104-98 and is now on the Governor’s desk awaiting a final decision of signature. A House final vote count can be found HERE. The Chamber & CREDC continues to advocate for the business community and our members in the form of limited liability protection during the pandemic. We have sent a letter to the Governor’s office encouraging his signature on the legislation.
