SP+ Launches Park Harrisburg’s On-Street Meter Grace Period

HARRISBURG, Pa. (Oct. 21, 2015) – All Park Harrisburg enforcement technology to accommodate a five-minute grace period is now live in the City of Harrisburg. The grace period is part of Park Harrisburg’s recent effort to increase and attract more visitors to downtown businesses.


SP+ takes its role in the community very seriously, and we’re pleased to satisfy one of the biggest concerns raised by visitors parking downtown,” said SP+ Senior Vice President Chris Sherman. “We want everyone parking in downtown Harrisburg to have a good experience.”


This system-wide change is the second step in Park Harrisburg’s recent effort to transform its current parking operations to support the community. In May, Park Harrisburg commenced its new “Ask Me” Ambassador Program, where all members of the enforcement team received extensive customer service training to function and serve as ambassadors. Ambassadors assist with parking meter demonstrations, answer non-parking related questions such as directions to local establishments, and provide events and local news announcements.


“To be true ambassadors for Harrisburg, we’ve trained employees who previously handled payments in our garages, as well as our enforcement staff, to help visitors with any issues they have,” Sherman said. “We’re happy to answer questions and help everyone have a great experience in Harrisburg.”
