rabbittransit and Capital Area Transit Promote Equity through a Tribute to Rosa Parks

rabbittransit and Capital Area Transit (CAT) are proud to pay tribute to Rosa Parks this February during African American History Month.
On Rosa Parks’ birthday, February 4, rabbittransit and CAT fixed route buses will feature a sign that commemorates Parks’ decision in 1955 in Montgomery, Ala., to refuse to give up her seat, sparking civil rights protests.

The sign will be placed on the first forward-facing seat on the driver’s side of each bus – the location where Parks’ sat in 1955 including a picture of Parks along with the declaration: “I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people.”

Each picture will also feature a QR code, courtesy of Martin Library in York County and the Dauphin County Library System that will direct riders to books about Park’s extraordinary life at system.
