PinnacleHealth Releases Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2015

HARRISBURG, Pa (September 28, 2015) — PinnacleHealth System today released its annual report for fiscal year 2015. The report includes information and accomplishments through June 30, 2015, including development of new and expanded facilities that increased access to healthcare services throughout central Pennsylvania.


“It was an exciting year for PinnacleHealth and the community, especially at our West Shore Campus, where two new facilities celebrated one-year anniversaries,” said Michael A. Young, president & CEO, PinnacleHealth System. “The Ortenzio Cancer Center at PinnacleHealth provides comprehensive oncology services in multiple specialty areas, and the West Shore Hospital brings PinnacleHealth acute care services, along with our experience and expertise, to the west shore.”


At PinnacleHealth hospitals for fiscal year 2015, emergency department visits were up 19.5 percent, with admissions up 5.8 percent and outpatient visits up 8.2 percent. Visits to PinnacleHealth Medical Group, the system’s network of primary care providers and specialists, were up 11 percent.


The period of the report also covers the system’s efforts to expand access to primary and specialty services, including the acquisition of Annville Family Medicine, expansion of the PinnacleHealth Women’s Cancer Center to Franklin County, creation of the Medical Professional Center in Newport, as well as the addition of two FastCare clinics in Cumberland County.


“We continue to stay focused on the need for convenient access to primary and specialty care, as well as other services identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment,” said Young.


PinnacleHealth’s contributions to community programs, highlights of the PinnacleHealth Foundation’s impact, and information about key partnerships in are also outlined in the report.


In addition, the report notes several key quality awards received during the fiscal period, including the system’s most recent recognitions from U.S. News and World Report and the Leapfrog Group, as well as financial information, including free care provided since 2012.


“The free care we provided in 2015 increased over the previous year by more than $40 million, about 58 percent,” said Young. “These dollars, along with our other community programs and contributions, demonstrate our continued commitment to improving the health and well-being of central Pennsylvanians.”
