(HARRISBURG) August 28, 2015 — Penn National Insurance has declared a four percent dividend for the business insurance program of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (Chamber & CREDC). This marks the fourth year a dividend has been paid since its inception in 2011.

The program offers Chamber & CREDC members affordable, comprehensive coverage on property and casualty insurance, including business owners, commercial auto, general liability, inland marine and workers’ compensation. In addition, through safety consulting, Penn National Insurance encourages member businesses to develop safety practices to substantially reduce or eliminate workplace injuries.

An important aspect of this group insurance program is preventing loss and controlling claims costs. Because dividends are based on the group’s collective loss experience, a business that may have had a significant loss may still be eligible to receive a dividend. Penn National Insurance was able to declare a dividend because of the group’s collective premium volume and below-threshold loss experience. The results: the opportunity to earn a dividend at the end of the plan year because of lower loss experience.

Not only is this program a great benefit for Chamber & CREDC members, it also has an economic impact to the region, because dollars generated through premium and then paid in dividends stay in the region. Over $580,000 has been returned to members over the past four years.

The Penn National Insurance program is just one of many benefits of Chamber & CREDC membership. For more information, visit the Chamber & CREDC’s website at to find a member agent representing Penn National Insurance near you.
