Murray Associates Architects celebrated the ground breaking for the Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority’s new $16 million replacement terminal. The design is very modern and energy efficient providing modern conveniences such as a passenger loading bridge for efficient circulation, especially in inclement weather, updated passenger processing and security systems. Some other new features include a passenger baggage carousel, seating for 180 passengers in the Transportation Safety Administration’s “Secure Waiting Area” for outbound passengers and comfort facilities. Tenants in the new 30,000 gsf building include a full-service travel agency, a car rental service and a “Grab and Go” food service in the lobby area. The state-of-the-art terminal replaces the original structure that was servicing the community since 1948.
Benedict Dubbs, a Murray Associates Principal, oversaw the design and is proud to partner with the airport on this project that will enhance the Williamsport and surrounding communities.
