MILLERSBURG, Pa. (April 2, 2015) – Mid Penn Bank today announced that George H. Groves has been named special advisor to President and CEO Rory G. Ritrievi.

Groves previously served as President and CEO of Schuylkill County based Miners Bank, subsidiary of Phoenix Bancorp, Inc. which finalized its merger with Mid Penn Bancorp, Inc. on March 1. “The merger of Mid Penn and Miners has already proven to be a valuable partnership and one that is going to continue to provide better opportunities to our customers and communities,” said Groves. “Being a part of the next chapter of Mid Penn in an advisory role is an honor and aligns perfectly with my background and interests.”

“Having known George throughout my entire career, I am confident that Mid Penn will benefit greatly from the addition of a seasoned, successful executive who can consult on matters across the bank,” said Ritrievi. “Given the scope of his expertise, the entire Mid Penn team and Board of Directors are looking forward to having George and his 40 plus years of experience contributing to our goal of growing and building the franchise.”

Groves has an extensive background in banking and has spent the majority of his career in executive management roles. Prior to joining Miners Bank in 2009, Groves founded Legacy Bank of Harrisburg, leading as chairman and CEO from 1998 to 2007.
