LOCAL UNITED WAY ASKS FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT – Fundraising Campaign Benefits Local People in Need

HARRISBURG – (November 18, 2015) – United Way of the Capital Region is asking local residents to support its fundraising efforts through a special community appeal campaign now underway.
“Needs continue to skyrocket, at the same time the corporate landscape is changing dramatically making it more difficult to raise funds to solve community problems,” said Timothy B. Fatzinger, United Way of the Capital Region president and CEO. “Our goal is more than reaching a fundraising number; it’s about helping people.”
“The issues facing the Capital Region are complex and cannot be solved with a single approach,” added Fatzinger. “United Way pulls together multiple programs and services to create solutions to these problems. Every dollar given directly to United Way goes toward addressing local issues.”
With six weeks remaining in its fundraising campaign, United Way of the Capital Region is halfway to its goal of $11.1 million. While many corporate and employee efforts are still underway, the organization has significant concerns about reaching its goal without asking the community for additional help. United Way hasn’t made a direct appeal like this in more than a decade.
It’s important to note that 100 percent of any gift goes directly to local programs and services because select corporate supporters underwrite United Way of the Capital Region’s administrative and fundraising costs.
