HARRISBURG – (April 24, 2015) – More than 185 local high school students are volunteering today as part of United Way of the Capital Region’s 13th annual Youth Day of Caring.

Volunteers will be doing painting, clean-up and landscaping projects throughout Harrisburg City Island to prepare the park for the spring season.

Juniors and seniors from the following six high schools will participate: Bishop McDevitt, Camp Hill, Central Dauphin East, Lower Dauphin, Red Land and Susquehanna Township.

“Youth Day of Caring gives teens a chance to see first-hand how volunteering can make a difference in our community,” said Heidi Neuhaus, director of United Way of the Capital Region’s The Volunteer Center.

Youth Day of Caring is sponsored by Fulton Bank (lead sponsor), Harrisburg Kiwanis Youth Foundation, Giant Foods and PSECU. Additional support is provided by United Way of the Capital Region’s Bridges Society.
