The project is designed to expand and renovate the Youth Center, enabling a much greater variety of indoor and outdoor activities and services for children, teens and adults. The Youth Center has been making a difference in Allison Hill for 25 years by reaching the children and exposing them to positive influences that will keep them in school and inspire them to work hard for a better life.

The newly acquired .55 acres/10,000 square foot, former printing building, will offer expanded space and a gym/activity center for athletics, creative arts, education, IT support systems, music, events, outdoor play area and senior activities.

It is expected that the new center will be able to reach and impact 150-200 kids and families. “These kids have wonderful aspirations with many gifts. Our dedicated staff at the current converted fire station on Herr Street are nurturing and mentoring these impressionable lives and their families, and the results are very encouraging.” said Scott Dunwoody, V.P. of Business Development at Bethesda Mission. “Partnering in the legacy project are foundations, businesses, churches and individuals. The team at Bethesda’s Youth Center is proud of the important role they play in mentoring and equipping Harrisburg’s rising generation.” Scott added.

“We were all immediately impressed with Bethesda Mission’s vision for the Youth Center Expansion Project. The plans for the finished facility, coupled with the obvious passion of the dedicated staff, will provide endless opportunities for the youth of Harrisburg. It’s evident that they are currently changing lives of the children that have been a part of the program.” stated Katie Clarke, President LeTort Trust.
