Kline Wins Forever Green Award

Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015 – Representatives from CannonDesign, Dickinson College, and Wagman Construction accept the 2015 Higher Education Project of the Year award.

The Kline Fitness Center, located on the Dickinson College campus in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, is a 29,000-square-foot structure that enhances student life. Designed by CannonDesign, the facility expansion accommodates five regulation-sized, glass-walled squash courts with large spectator areas, gymnasium space complete with state-of-the-art cardio-training machines, weight-lifting equipment, a sizeable atrium with a healthy-options café, an outdoor half-court basketball court, and an outdoor stretching patio.

The Kline Fitness Center is one of the many buildings on campus that supports Dickinson’s continued commitment to sustainability and green practices. A variety of green building strategies were utilized to reduce energy consumption including reviewing individual materials for recycled content percentage, utilizing certified wood, monitoring outdoor air delivery, and requiring off-site sorting. Designed to achieve LEED ® Gold certification, it will become Dickinson’s fifth building to earn this rating.

Additional partners on the project were SGS Architects, Smucker Company, Hershocks, Inc., and Hull’s Electric Service, Inc.
