Saxton & Stump, a Pennsylvania-based law firm, welcomes attorney Kenneth J. McDermott as Senior Counsel for its Hospitality group. McDermott brings with him a well-established Liquor Licensing and Alcohol client base and will also practice in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Business and Corporate groups.
“Ken is creative and entrepreneurial,” said CEO James W. Saxton. “His liquor licensing practice is impressive and he will strengthen our Hospitality group. He is an experienced and well-rounded business and commercial litigation attorney and we are pleased to have him join our quickly-expanding Harrisburg location.”
In his practice, McDermott represents beverage retailers, distributors, restaurants, hotels, bars, private clubs, music and entertainment venues, breweries, wineries and distilleries and other liquor licensees on all aspects of alcoholic beverage and liquor licensing law. He assists clients with litigation, corporate and business operations, construction and intellectual property matters.
He is active in the community and in several industry-related organizations including the Brewers of Pennsylvania Association and Harrisburg Beer Week. McDermott is also an instructor for Harrisburg Area Community College’s Brewing Science certificate program and serves on the Board of Directors for Crime Stoppers of Dauphin County.
After receiving his J.D. from Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law, McDermott served as a law clerk to Justice J. Michael Eakin of the Supreme Court of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
McDermott is the second attorney to transition to Saxton & Stump this year from Pittsburgh-based Tucker Arensberg. In April, Anthony J. Foschi joined the firm who was previously shareholder-in-charge for Tucker Arensberg’s Harrisburg office. Foschi is a highly respected attorney in the hospitality industry and represents hotel senior management on a variety of matters related to buying and selling hotels, restaurants and public recreation businesses.
