STANDARDS ENGINEER The role of Standards Engineer is to manage and prepare submittals based upon national and international standards according to the rules, regulations and requirements from approval agencies such as UL, CSA and FM. The Standards Engineer will guide and assist Phoenix Contact personnel to interpret approvals requirements and address questions, issues and concerns involving product approval requirements.   RESPONSIBILITIES: Completely manage and coordinate Approvals Projects related to the development and maintenance of products in D&M Monitor changes in external regulations that require changes to product approvals Develop competency in new standards, and relationships with new approval agencies, as required by customer or market requirements Review and, if necessary, discuss and correct drafts of agency test results, reports and certificates prior to publication Guide internal and external customers regarding matters of both ordinary and hazardous locations product safety approvals Manage the maintenance of product approvals documentation in our PLM system related to approvals agencies Maintain and administrate the technical file for responsible products Train and educate new employees in matters regarding product safety approvals and internal approvals process Support Phoenix Contact HQ approvals teams with USA based approvals agencies Participate in external agency and regulatory audits Participate in Engineering changes, conducting the analysis of modifications affecting the certification of those products under change Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required. QUALIFICATIONS: BS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field Demonstrated experience with Product Safety Standards (UL 1059, UL 508 and UL 6703, FM 3600, FM 3611, and FM 3810, and UL/IEC 60079-0, -7, -11, -15, 61010-1, -2-201) Experience working with testing agencies, specifically UL, CSA, and FM Understand the basics of CE (EMC and LVD) Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) Strong organizational skills ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Must be able to work at a desk with a computer for up to eight hours per day Occasional domestic travel required Must have the ability to work effectively under minimum supervision Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
