This position is responsible for driving a commercial delivery truck up to 26 feet long to pick up and deliver all items at external and internal customer properties. The position reports to the Assistant Production Manager.
This position may provide care, supervision, guidance, or control of children or may have regular, ongoing contact with children that is integral to the responsibilities of the position. As a result, in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law, newly hired candidates are required to obtain the following clearances: a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI). Completed clearances are required to be submitted prior to starting employment.
JOB FUNCTIONS (functions marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):
•Safely drive a 26’ box truck (or other delivery vehicle) to deliver and pick up all laundry items at all customer locations. *
•Safely secure laundry loads in truck and/or lift using various fastening devices. *
•Safely maneuver wheeled laundry carts weighing up to 800 pounds on and off truck, and transport on various terrains to property loading areas. *
•Accurately complete and submit daily log sheets, daily truck inspection reports, delivery receipts, and customer invoices. *
•Communicate professionally with customers, relaying concerns and needs to laundry management. *
•Adhere to established route schedules to insure efficient delivery process for all customer locations. *
•Picking up and deliver all clean and soled linen and uniforms to local accounts.*
•Becoming familiar with local accounts, including valet service, Milton Hershey School, and Hershey Medical Center.*
•Must adhere to established DOT standards.
•21 years of age or older.
•Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
•Minimum one year experience as a commercial driver.
•Must be able to operate a 26’ box truck, including driving, parking, and backing in to small dock spaces at property loading areas.
•Must be able to obtain annual DOT medical certification.
•Must be able to pass all clearances required by delivery accounts
•Must be able to operate various types of lift gates.
•Must be able to work in fast paced environment to meet customer demands on a daily basis.
•Must be able to work independently, and use good judgment in making daily decisions.
•Must be able to speak and read the English language.

•This job requires working/driving in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and fog.
•Start times vary between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
•Must be able to work overtime as needed.
•This is a union position, and the work schedule will be based on union seniority. Candidates must be able to meet scheduled requirements, which will most likely require evening and weekend hours.
