Job Description:

The Head Golf Professional is responsible for assisting in directing daily golf shop operations, promoting and managing the game of golf through instruction and golf course engagement, and representing the Hershey Country Club in the community and the section. This role will spread hospitality and goodwill among all golfers and assist in all aspects of the golf operation. The Head Golf Professional will assist in establishing Hershey Country Club as the best club within the market area and will assist with the improvement and development of high levels of customer service and satisfaction while maintaining a professionally managed operation. This person will report to the Director of Golf.

This position may provide care, supervision, guidance, or control of children or may have regular, ongoing contact with children that is integral to the responsibilities of the position. As a result, in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law, newly hired candidates are required to obtain the following clearances: a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI). Completed clearances are required to be submitted prior to starting employment.

Job Functions
(Items marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):

Manage day-to-day operations of golf shop including supervising and assigning tasks to direct reports as well as part-time staff and monitoring merchandise inventory.*
Maintain playing ability and work to stay competent in all areas of the game including rules, competitions, and golf handicaps.*
Administer and run weekly golf tournaments for leagues, outside events, and Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA). Establish and maintain pace of play and other golf standards.*
Manage golf operation budgets, revenue goals, invoices, billing, and other expenses through forecasting and budgeting processes to maintain the finances of the business.*
Manage golf inventory and calendar access to the course in order to balance member and non-member tee scheduling and maximize revenue.*
Promote and provide golf instruction for members and non-members through lessons on the course and develop teaching direction through professional decisions that engage and meet the needs of each golfer.*
Perform and follow up on any other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of related Golf experience
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
Completion of high school or GED
Additional Qualifications:

Must have a valid Drivers’ License
Pre-Employment – Must be a PGA Member in good standing with previous Head Golf Professional experience a plus. First Assistants with at least 2 years experience will be considered
Pre-Employment – Working knowledge of golf tournament management software, such as Golf Genius
Post-Employment – Must maintain PGA membership while employed

The position is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

The position is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32° for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.

The position is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
