Summary: The position is responsible for the processing of consumer loans which include various activities relative to the receipt of approved, cancelled, and denied loans from the loan queue and Underwriting. This position will have direct contact with members, branch employees, and Lending Sales employees throughout the loan process. This position will be responsible for preparing any and all documentation for loan closings and routing the packages to branches or members for signing. This position will disburse funds on all loan products as well prepare and issue all adverse action documentation for rejected loan requests. In addition, this position will prepare and issue all preliminary disclosures for all approved loan requests. This position is responsible for all file maintenance. This position operates within systems and workflows to assure that all loan documentation traffic runs smoothly and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

1. Review, process and fund loan application packages received via all delivery channels to include the internet, telephone, branch network, auto drafts, and direct mail.

2. Initiate and maintain direct contact with the member, branch employees, or Lending Sales employees throughout the loan process to ensure all applicable information is received in order to expedite loan funding.

3. Work with Lending Sales and Branch staff and/or follow up with members directly where additional information is required.

4. Handle complex requests and loan application issues from members, branches and Lending Sales.

5. Assist members by guiding them to available products and services that best fits their needs.

6. Create loan documents and coordinate settlement through direct contact with the members, branches, or Lending Sales.

7. Audit pre and post-closing loan files for compliance purposes.

8. Maintain pipeline reporting for all loan package activity identifying potential bottlenecks that could negatively affect service delivery.

9. Must comply with all Belco’s policies, procedures and standards. Abide by applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, BSA, Patriot Act and OFAC.

10. Ensure that all Consumer Loan documentation meets state and federal compliance requirements.

11. Document and report audit responses of incorrect application processes, missing conditional items and documentation to the department or branch manager for additional employee training or awareness needs for improvement.

12. Complete daily operational tasks such as but not limited to auditing applications for pre-disclosures, pipeline reporting and assigning rotational duties.

13. Construct and maintain credit files.

14. Execute Lien encumbrances, paper titles for auto and mortgage loans.

15. Process letters of guarantee requests from insurance companies.

16. Provide assistance to Lending Sales and Branch staff with shadowing and training needs.

17. Assist the Consumer Loan Specialist with the orientation and training of new Consumer Processing Associates and, Representatives.

18. Periodically assist the Consumer Loan Specialist with implementation of training and processes for the department and credit union staff.

19. Will serve as a backup to the Lending Processing Specialist and help as needed.

20. Be cross trained to handle additional Lending functions such as Indirect and Real Estate Loan Processing.

21. Complete monthly tasks such as but not limited to individual and department volume reporting, Visa, & Line of Credit due-dates report, Bel-Pro processing report, along with monthly and quarterly reports for various levels of management within Lending.

22. Assist the Indirect and Real Estate processors with overflow of work.

25. Other duties as assigned by the Consumer Loan Specialist and/or the Consumer Lending Manager.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent and a minimum of two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory roles. Additional educational requirements may be requested and will be handled as part of the annual performance evaluation process. Prescribed courses must be completed within the online Learning Management System courses assigned for this position within two years after position acceptance and before consideration for promotion. Additional education/training requirements may be requested as new courses become available. Certain courses may be waived based on prior experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

A two-year Associate Degree in Business with more than five years of experience in a combination of the following roles: loan processing, origination or closing.
