CAMP HILL – Holy Spirit –A Geisinger Affiliate will open Spirit Urgent Care–Carlisle on Wednesday, March 4, at the Holy Spirit Carlisle Center, 1211 Forge Road, Carlisle. The walk-in center will be a convenient and affordable option for those who are sick or injured. Spirit Urgent Care will be open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., seven days a week. No appointments are needed.

Specially trained physicians and nurse practitioners will see patients at this center. This new walk-in urgent care center will provide a convenient, affordable and quick alternative to the emergency department for patients who have an immediate, but not life-threatening, medical need.

“When Holy Spirit Family Medicine–Carlisle opened its doors in 2012, we also began providing walk-in care for patients who didn’t have a doctor or who couldn’t get in to see their doctor right away,” said Johnson Coyle, MD, lead physician, Spirit Urgent Care–Carlisle. “Our family practice, as well as walk-in care, has grown quickly as the Carlisle community embraced our services. Due to this growth, we have decided to open a dedicated urgent care center, separate from our family practice. We believe our new Spirit Urgent Care–Carlisle will meet the needs and expectations of the greater Carlisle community.”

Spirit Urgent Care providers have the expertise needed to treat a wide range of non-emergency injuries, pain, fever, allergies, headaches and migraines, and more. Spirit Urgent Care will provide X-rays and blood testing onsite. Testing for strep infections and tuberculosis, as well as providing flu and tetanus vaccines, also will be done at this center. Spirit Urgent Care is not for life-threatening emergencies or ongoing care for chronic health problems, such as diabetes.

When patients are treated at Spirit Urgent Care, they will receive a complete report of their care and test results. A report also will be sent to their family doctor, who can provide follow-up care if needed. If they do not have a family doctor, the staff can help them find one.

Spirit Urgent Care–Carlisle is located within the Holy Spirit Carlisle Center. The Holy Spirit Carlisle Center houses imaging, lab, EKG, and cardiovascular diagnostic services, as well as Holy Spirit Family Medicine–Carlisle, Holy Spirit Cardiology, Holy Spirit General Surgery, Holy Spirit Diabetes Services, Holy Spirit Endocrinology Services, and Holy Spirit Vascular Surgery.
