This week South Third Development Corporation (STDC), an affiliate of Harristown, announced plans to add about 23 newly renovated apartments and additional commercial spaces for lease in a series of unique row buildings in the South of Market Street or SOMA neighborhood of downtown Harrisburg. Select Capital Commercial Properties is also a partner in a portion of this project.
The buildings to be renovated include the six story 18-22 South Third (currently an office building) and home to the well known “El Sol” restaurant and several 3 story row buildings at 19, 21, 23, and 27 South Third Streets. The 18-22 South Third building will be converted into 15 one bedroom luxury apartments—each unit is expected to be around 800 square feet. The buildings on the East side of South Third Street will contain about 8 apartments (a mix of one and two bedrooms) and several first floor commercial spaces for lease. The building at 21 South Third Street may be dedicated to a new downtown “co-working” space of about 5,700 s.f. in size. The projects are planned for a construction start date in the fall of this year with completion scheduled for Spring 2016.
“We believe the market for high end and unique apartments in the downtown is very strong and we look forward to continuing to grow the downtown residential population,” noted Brad Jones, President and CEO of Harristown Enterprises, Inc.
