Harrisburg Regional Chamber Members Offer Support to Community

Chamber & CREDC members have come out in full force to offer their support for other businesses while the coronavirus pandemic affects the greater Harrisburg region.

AT&T consumer home internet wireline customers, as well as Fixed Wireless Internet, can use unlimited internet data. AT&T will also help businesses, universities and schools keep their teams and classrooms connected through conference calls and video conferencing with Cisco Webex Meetings with AT&T for 90-days, and seamlessly forward calls to both mobile and landline phones with AT&T IP Flexible Reach. AT&T has also waived domestic wireless plan overage charges for data, voice or text for residential or small business wireless customers incurred because of economic hardship related to the coronavirus pandemic. Capital BlueCross announced it is offering free medical Virtual Care visits for members who currently have the Virtual Care benefit. The waiving of fees will be effective March 13 through April 15, 2020. Capital BlueCross Virtual Care connects patients with a medical professional by smartphone, tablet or computer in real-time 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Members of the general public or those otherwise not covered by a Capital BlueCross plan may take advantage of discounted telehealth visits through the Capital BlueCross Virtual Care app. The fee for a non-member is $59 for a medical visit. Comcast‘s Xfinity WiFi hotspots across the country will be available to anyone who needs them for free including non-customers.

The Dauphin County Library System is allowing residents of Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry County residents to apply for an Online Access Code that provides immediate access to eContent and Online Resources. Applicants outside of Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry County should check their local library card for the blue Access PA logo. This designates your local library as a participant in the Access PA program. Bring your local card with the logo to any DCLS library to obtain a DCLS card. Learn more HERE.

The Foundation for Enhancing Communities & the United Way of the Capital Region are partnering to offer the COVID-19 Community Response Fund, which will provide emergency funds to long-standing nonprofit organizations in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry and Northern York Counties that are responding to the spread of COVID-19 and experiencing financial challenges by doing so. Patient First provides drive-up COVID-19 testing by appointment at its location along South Sporting Hill Road in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. This location replaces a previous testing site at Patient First’s Colonial Park urgent care center. The move allows for more convenient patient and vehicle access to COVID-19 testing. Planet Fitness has partnered with iFit, the leader in streaming home workouts, or provide workouts for free on the Planet Fitness app, https://www.planetfitness.com/mobileapp. There is no cost and you do not have to be a member. Residence Inn Harrisburg Hershey is allowing Chamber members to use the hotel during the day for remote work from home. SaveMAPS, short for Save Mom-and-Pop Shops, is an online directory that enables people to buy digital gift cards from their favorite restaurants. SaveMAPS also provides establishments the infrastructure to issue digital gift cards and process payments if they cannot do so already. As with all organizations navigating how to operate during the pandemic, Wildheart Ministries has both redistributed and innovated it’s efforts to ensure the community of Allison Hill doesn’t slip through the cracks. Wildheart has partnered and volunteered with 3 separate food distribution efforts with the Harrisburg Police Department, Church of the Brethren and Life Center Ministries to make sure that every person has the essentials during this time. They have also created Love the Hill Champion beautification kits that residents of the community have free access to in order to create and maintain beauty and positive change in the neighborhood.
