(Harrisburg, Pa.) For the past 100 years, Gannett Fleming has been a driving force in improving our communities and sustaining our world. In keeping with that vision, Chairman and CEO William M. Stout, PE, FACEC, will lead the American Heart Association (AHA) 2015 Capital Region Heart Walk as honorary chair. The event is set for Sunday, Sept. 20, on City Island in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Participants can choose to walk either 3 miles or 1 mile.
“I am delighted to help support the AHA’s lifesaving mission as the Heart Walk chair,” Stout said. “This event means a great deal to me personally because many of our Gannett Fleming employees and their families are affected by cardiovascular disease and stroke. My mother also suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We are proud to help raise much-needed funds that will save lives.”
Individuals can register for the Heart Walk or donate online at www.heart.org/capitalregionwalk. Last year, 2,300 participants raised $476,000 to support the AHA’s innovative research and programs. The Heart Walk has been the AHA’s largest regional event for more than 15 years.
As Heart Walk chair, Stout will appeal to central Pennsylvania business and community leaders to sponsor the event and form teams. Companies interested in supporting the event should contact Ellen Sun, Capital Region Heart Walk director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 717.730.1783.
