F&M Trust Announces New Hires

(CHAMBERSBURG, PA) F&M Trust announces the following new hires:

Karen Degenhart

Karen Degenhart, MBA, RPA; Vice President, Employee Benefits Officer

Degenhart has more than 13 years in the financial services industry specializing in employee benefits. Most recently, she was employed by LeTort Trust in Camp Hill, PA as the Manager of Retirement Plan Administration. Degenhart will be working with business customers and their employees in the following areas: retirement planning, employee benefits, succession planning pension plans, profit sharing plans and 401(k) plans. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Eastern University, and she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration and Leadership from Capella University. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Degenhart is active in the community serving as past Chair of the Suits to Careers Board. She will be based at the F&M Trust Community Office located at 3907 Market St., Camp Hill


Miriam DeFehr; Community Office Manager, Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg

DeFehr joins the bank with over 20 years of experience in financial services. Most recently, she was the Consumer Processing Manager for AgChoice Farm Credit. As the Community Office Manager for the Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg offices, DeFehr is focused on consumer lending, business development, deposit services, customer service, and strengthening relationships within those communities. She is a graduate of Instituto Europeo di Design and Trinity College, both in Europe, where she obtained dual degrees in both Art Design and Psychology. DeFehr is also active in the community serving on various committees with both the West Shore and Harrisburg Regional Chambers of Commerce. She is also involved with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Dress for Success and is a Red Cross Blood Donor Ambassador.


James McElhenie, CTFA; Vice President, Investment and Trust Services Relationship Manager

McElhenie has over 25 years of financial industry experience and was most recently employed as a Senior Fiduciary Relationship Specialist with Wells Fargo Bank Wealth Management in Philadelphia, PA. In his role with F&M Trust, he will provide investment, trust, administration, estate planning and retirement planning services to individuals and businesses in the Greater Harrisburg/Capitol Region. McElhenie is a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the New England College of Business. He is a current member serving the Harrisburg Autism Society and was a past Co-Campaign Manager for the United Way of Central PA. McElhenie’s office is located at the F&M Trust Community Office at 3907 Market St., Camp Hill.


Danielle Ritter; Community Office Manager, Norland Avenue

Ritter has joined F&M Trust with over 20 years of management experience and was most recently employed in a similar role at the First Community Bank of Mercersburg. At F&M Trust, she will be responsible for the development of consumer and business customer relationships and engaging in community activities. She attended Hagerstown Community College and also received specialized training in preventing financial elder abuse through the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging. Ritter is a member of the Rotary Club of Chambersburg and also spends time serving the community by teaching Awana at her local church.


Adam Smith; Community Office Manager, Ritner Highway

Smith has over seven years of financial industry experience and was most recently employed as a Branch Manager for Member’s 1st FCU. In his role as Community Office Manager, he is responsible for the development of consumer and business deposit relationships, consumer lending, customer service and retention, and fostering community relationships. Smith obtained Associate’s Degrees in Business Administration and Computerized Accounting Management from the Consolidate School of Business in York, PA and he is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree at Central Penn College. He is a current board member for Penn State Extension Cumberland County.


Crystal Sunderland; Business Banking Relationship Manager, Fulton and Huntingdon Counties

Sunderland has over a decade of experience in retail banking that includes consumer and business lending. Most recently she served as a Branch Manager for First National Bank of PA in Mount Union. In her role with F&M Trust, Sunderland will develop and manage a business banking portfolio in the Fulton and Huntingdon County markets. She has completed a management course at Penn State University, and facilitates the Encouragement ministry team at the McVeytown United Methodist Church. Sunderland’s office is located at the F&M Trust Community Office at 18810 Sandy Ridge Station, Orbisonia.
