Bethesda Mission has planned a dinner in celebration of the Easter season for April 5, 2015.  The traditional Easter Dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Men’s Shelter, located at 611 Reily Street , Harrisburg .  The menu will include ham, turkey, whipped potatoes with butter and gravy, green beans, yams, bread, salad, fruit, and an assortment of desserts, along with iced tea, punch, and water.  The Mission is prepared to feed over 150 people this year.

Deb King, volunteer coordinator of the Mission stated, “We are extremely grateful for the volunteers who are giving up their Easter at home to come and serve the meal at the Mission.  Most of the volunteers are members of the community.”

Chuck Wingate, executive director of the Mission, suggested that, “Easter should be a joyous time.  We are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ!  It is the very essence of what Christianity is all about.  Unfortunately, not everyone is joyous.  Many people who come to our doors are dealing with a lot of different issues in their lives.”

Wingate continued, “Separation from husbands, wives, or children adds to the stress around holiday seasons.  We want anyone who can’t enjoy a meal with their family at home, to adopt Bethesda Mission as their family for the day!  Come in and sit around a table, enjoying the company of others.  Come and share the love of God with each other as you fellowship around the dinner table with us!”
