(HARRISBURG, PA) – Dauphin Highlands Golf Course – managed by Billy Casper Golf (BCG), the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S. – realized a record-high performance in 2014, buoyed in large part by immaculate conditions on and surrounding the golf course.

Under BCG management since January 2013, rounds played grew by nearly 20 percent, the most since 2001. Overall facility revenue similarly increased, bolstered by The Five Iron Grille – with a fresh look and new menu – enjoying best-ever food and beverage sales.

“The biggest difference we see is a superior overall experience here at Dauphin Highlands,” says Chris Strand, General Manager at Dauphin Highlands. “Hundreds of new and returning smiles reflect the positive atmosphere and family-friendly culture Billy Casper Golf has instilled.”

Several player-development initiatives and special events have met with rave reviews. They include newly structured annual membership and loyalty programs, a Women on Course golf-networking series and “The World’s Largest Golf Outing” fundraiser benefitting Wounded Warrior Project. A highly-functional website eases Dauphin Highlands’ connections with guests and streamlines tee time scheduling.

In addition, the Dauphin County General Authority has invested more than $450,000 into course maintenance, golf carts, equipment replacements and clubhouse upgrades. A tree-harvesting project to increase air circulation successfully improved conditions on the 12th and 16th greens.

“Our commitment to the golf operation signifies our long-term vision of making this the best public course in Dauphin County,” says Barbara A. Zemlock, Chair of the Dauphin County General Authority. “Furthermore, Billy Casper’s expertise continues to pay dividends as we anticipate a banner year ahead.”

A renovation to the roof of the clubhouse was completed spring 2015. Additional steps are being strategized for future course and clubhouse improvements, including a remodeled banquet center.

“These enhancements demonstrate BCG’s commitment to ensuring Dauphin Highlands is the region’s premier public golf course,” said Jeff Haste, chairman of the Dauphin County Board of Commissioners. “Thanks to the leadership and vision of BCG and the General Authority, the Highlands is poised for significant growth.”

This year, Dauphin Highlands will host several major golf outings, including:
– “The World’s Largest Golf Outing,” benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, on Tuesday, Aug. 4,
– The Dauphin County Commissioners’ charity golf outing on Thursday, Aug. 6, and
– The Our Family Foundation (Giant) charity event on Monday, July 20.

About Dauphin Highlands Golf Course

Opened in 1995 and designed by Ault, Clark and Associates, Dauphin Highlands quickly gained critical acclaim, including a four-star rating from Golf Digest and a “Reader’s Choice Award” from Harrisburg Magazine. The 18-hole, 7,121-yard, par-72 layout presents golfers with tree-lined fairways, well-manicured greens and gorgeous seasonal flowers.

From the challenging fourth hole (172 yards, par 3) with extensive bunkering and a two-tiered green to the vast 12th hole (541 yards, par 5) with its wide open fairway, Dauphin Highlands is a fun but fair test for all handicappers. The signature par-3, 17th hole is filled with natural beauty, requiring players to carry a ravine to a gently sloping green. An expansive driving range and large putting green make Dauphin Highlands an ideal place to practice every facet of the game.

A comfortable clubhouse includes a fully-stocked pro shop with the latest in brand-name equipment and apparel. The Five Iron Grille is perfect for pre- and post-round enjoyment, offering a savory menu, five flat-screen TVS, a warm and inviting atmosphere, and spectacular views of Central PA.
