Comcast and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region Partnership Grows
Collaboration for Greater Impact
Harrisburg, PA, August 24, 2016 – The partnership between the Comcast
Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region dates back to 2009. The Comcast Foundation awarded a grant of $30,000 over the next two years to support this agency’s quality award winning mentoring program. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the
Capital Region also recently received the Gold Standard Award from their national office.
This grant from the Comcast Foundation is in recognition of Comcast’s commitment to the communities where its customers and employees live and work. Since its
founding in 1999, the Comcast Foundation has distributed more than $163 million in cash support of programs implemented locally in Comcast communities. This grant will allow Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region to match twenty-five children in Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry and Lebanon counties with much needed caring mentors. “We’re proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region with this Comcast Foundation grant,” said Christine Whitaker, Senior Vice President, Comcast. “Matching children facing adversity with supportive adults develops mentoring relationships that change children’s lives and our communities.”
“We are very thankful Comcast continues to invest locally in our program to help
children achieve success,” stated Maddie Young, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region CEO. “We are proud to have Comcast as a year-round partner making a positive impact in the Capital Region.”
