HARRISBURG, PA – Comcast has launched more than 220 Xfinity WiFi outdoor hotspots in Harrisburg over the past two months, part of the ongoing expansion of a Wi-Fi network in its Keystone Region that now includes more than 2,700 hotspots providing free access points that keep Comcast customers connected on the go.

The addition of these outdoor hotspots near parks, shopping and dining destinations, government offices and other vibrant areas in Harrisburg complements Comcast’s more than 10 million existing residential and business hotspots across the nation, and most Xfinity Internet customers can access them at no additional cost.

The largest WiFi provider in the region and state, Comcast has now launched more than 250 WiFi hotspots in Dauphin County and will reach 3,400 hotspots in the region by year’s end.
The Keystone Region comprises western, central and northeastern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and the Maryland panhandle. In Pennsylvania, this builds upon the thousands of Xfinity WiFi hotspots already available in the greater Philadelphia area.

“This is great news for both residents and workers in Harrisburg,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse, “and we applaud Comcast for expanding the city’s WiFi network to make accessing the Internet easier. It’s just another reason to live, work and play in our capital city.”

Available Harrisburg Xfinity WiFi hotspots include multiple locations along Jonestown Road, North Sixth Street, Walnut Street, South Cameron Street, Linglestown Road, Locust Lane, Market Street and Union Deposit Road, among many others. Hotspots can be found near Colonial Park Mall, Dauphin County Courthouse, Reservoir Park, Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, Harrisburg University, State Museum of Pennsylvania, PA CareerLink and numerous Harrisburg dining locations.

The Dauphin County portion of the Xfinity WiFi network also includes hotspots in Hershey, Millersburg, Middletown, Highspire and Grantville, while the nearby Cumberland County communities of Mechanicsburg and Camp Hill have more than 90 access points.

“As we continue to invest in our WiFi network, we are bringing residents in Harrisburg and other nearby communities new levels of connectivity and convenience,” said Christine Whitaker, senior vice president of Comcast’s Keystone Region.

Most Xfinity Internet customers can access Xfinity WiFi hotspots by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on their laptops or mobile devices and entering their Comcast email and password. The Xfinity WiFi App, available for download on both iOS and Android devices, makes it easy to locate business and outdoor hotspots, or customers can visit the hotspot finder map online at

After signing in for the first time, customers will be automatically connected to the Xfinity WiFi network whenever they are in a hotspot location and they can easily take advantage of access points available across the country, including popular vacation destinations along the East Coast.

According to Cisco, 88 percent of all U.S. data traffic on mobile and portable devices will travel over WiFi by 2018. The Xfinity WiFi network helps to ensure that Comcast’s Internet customers have the best available online experience when they are on the go.
