On May 7, 2021, The Salvation Army Harrisburg will be celebrating our community’s extraordinary spirit of resilience and optimism and recognize our “Heroes at Home.”
While we normally host an annual banquet each spring, this year certainly hasn’t been normal. We’ve realized now more than ever that “heroes” aren’t necessarily celebrities and athletes, but rather those people within our organizations, communities, and families who show up, lift others up, and get the job done?
So, on May 7, under the tent on the grounds of our Salvation Army campus, we will enjoy lunch and an afternoon of inspiration and community, celebrating your Hero at Home. As a sponsor, you will have the opportunity to recognize that employee or community member who goes above and beyond to make things happen.
Maybe it’s your CEO who has led your organization safely through the pandemic. Maybe it’s the custodian who ensures a clean workspace. Maybe it’s a nurse, your favorite customer, or your Mom. You decide! Per the sponsorship levels or ticket opportunities outlined within the enclosed brochure, you’ll have the opportunity to invite your hero(oes) to join you at the event, and they will be featured on a slideshow for all to see and celebrate!
The program will feature some of our special heroes including keynote speaker Kristal Turner-Childs, Director of PA State Police Bureau of Forensics Services and founder of FEMPOWERED. Jonah Anderson, a Top 3 finalist on the Food Network’s Kids Baking Championship, will personally provide dessert (who can’t celebrate a 13-year-old award-winning baker!?). And we will honor the Karns and Rudderow families with the esteemed Salvation Army “Others Award” for their ongoing service within our communities.
