QUESTION: What is your role at the Chamber & CREDC?
ANSWER: Director of Events Marketing
QUESTION: When did you know you wanted to pursue a career in event planning and public relations?
ANSWER: In my junior year of high school, I watched the movie “The Wedding Planner.” After watching it, I fell in love with the concept of planning events (weddings, specifically). So, after declaring a Communications Major with an emphasis in PR and Marketing in college, I took an internship with a local resort. This eventually led into a full time position. During my time there, I assisted in planning weddings and other special events. I quickly found out that wedding planning was not as grandiose as Jennifer Lopez made it seem in the movie, but I fell in love with event planning. It was really rewarding to see all of my hard work come into fruition and to see people happy (most of the time J) with the results. I love what I do. I love juggling multiple events at the same time. I love working with people and building relationships; I love seeing the fruits of my labor. My job is different every day and it is constantly presenting new and fun opportunities!
QUESTION: Do you have any hobbies? Interests?
ANSWER: I love using the creative side of my brain and, when I have time, am a bit of a crafter. I also enjoy hiking with my husband – there’s something so freeing and wonderful about being in the peacefulness of the woods. I love frequenting Longwood Gardens, going to yard sales and antiquing (you never know what you’ll find). I enjoy a good Zumba class, spending time with my family and taking my daughter on adventures!
QUESTION: What is one word you would say best describes you?
QUESTION: What is something no one really knows about you?
ANSWER: I was a stem cell donor for my dad. It was one of the most humbling and life changing events that I’ve ever experienced and I am such a better person because of it.
QUESTION: Where did you grow up?
ANSWER: I grew up in Belleville, Pennsylvania (a tiny town on the outskirts of State College, filled with many Amish residents, where everyone knows everyone and the pace of life moves a little bit slower…it was the BEST place to grow up!)
QUESTION: Where did you attend college?
ANSWER: Messiah College (Go Falcons!)
QUESTION: Who is/are your role model(s)?
ANSWER: My parents, my husband and my daughter. My parents have shown me what unconditional love truly means. They have guided me, protected me, provided for me, advised me and supported me. They are the strongest two people I’ve ever met; experiencing some of the worst storms that life can bring while moving forward with positivity and increased faith in God.
My husband is constantly challenging me to be a better person, accepting me for who I am and encouraging me along the way. He has stood by me through the ups and downs and is always making me smile.
My daughter teaches me lessons every day in patience and grace. She has forced me to become stronger and less selfish. She reminds me of the joy that can be found in simple things and thinks I’m the best person in the world, despite my flaws.
Each of these people, in their own rights, has qualities that I aspire to possess and exemplify to others. They are all my role models and I love them dearly!
