Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region Recognizes And Thanks Their Community Partners

January is National Mentoring Month and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region is taking this opportunity to recognize and thank their Cumberland County Community Partners.

During the past year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region supported nearly 700 youth in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Perry counties. BBBSCR offered resources, guidance, and virtual activities to our Bigs, Littles and families throughout the pandemic. The board and staff of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region want to take this opportunity to thank and recognize ourvolunteers, mentors and community partners who made this possible.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the volunteers, community partners and program partners who supported our mission last year. Thank you to our school district partners who assist in coordinating our virtual site-based programs and the many school guidance counselors who identify children who could benefit from having a supportive adult mentor. Thank you to our local police departments and the PA State Police for partnering with us through our Bigs in Blue program. A special thank-you goes out to Capital BlueCross, MidPenn Bank, and Deloitte for participating in our Beyond School Walls workforce development school-based program.

We are grateful to Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC and Whitaker Center for partnering with us to launch the Youth Rise: Stand Together speaker series that introduces youth to BIPOC(Black, Indigenous and People of Color)community leaders. Thank you to all our community partners who share their knowledge and resources through our Grow Big Grow Well initiative and to the Partnership for Better Health, our program funder. Thank you to our Savvy Sisters partners who inspire our Little Sisters to dream BIG, especially the Junior League of Harrisburg, Athleta, JPL, and the Fund for Women and Girls-a special project of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities.

And finally, to all of you who make our work possible–donors, friends, volunteers, and families –thank you. Together, we are defenders of the potential that lies in every child. In the coming year, BBBSCR will continue to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We look forward to everything we will achieve together in 2021.
