Bethesda Mission will be holding a Labor Day Celebration Block Party on Monday, September 7, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. – 2:00 p.m. The event will take place, weather permitting, in front of the Men’s Shelter, located at 611 Reily Street , Harrisburg , PA.
The musical group “God Squad” and others will be performing during the afternoon. There will also be a few speakers providing short, inspirational talks and plenty of free food. Beginning at 12:00 noon, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, macaroni salad and chips will be served. Water and soda will be available throughout the day. Ice cream sandwiches will be available for dessert.
Activities will include a moon bounce, petting zoo, face painting, prizes, and a number of other surprises during the afternoon. Reily Street will be closed between Sixth and Seventh Streets throughout the day to accommodate the celebration.
“This old-fashioned neighborhood picnic is our way of telling our neighbors that we care,” states Chuck Wingate, Bethesda Mission’s executive director. “It is a no-cost, family-friendly option for celebrating the end of summer – and everyone is welcome! Single moms with kids or people who find themselves alone on Labor Day should come out for an afternoon of music, food, and fun,” concludes Wingate.
