The PACB is pleased to have been requested by the Department of Banking and Securities (DoBS) to work with the Department and the Pennsylvania Bankers Association (PaBankers) to develop a program to introduce banking careers and operations to a future generation of community bankers.

PACB and PaBankers have been responsible for curriculum development, logistical arrangements and presenter recruitment for this new and exciting program. The successful result of this collaboration is the Next Generation Bankers Academy; an intense, one-week experiential learning program for college students interested in understanding more about careers in the financial services industry and/or government oversight.

The four and a half (4 ½) days of classroom learning, taught onsite at multiple community banks, provides real-world application for the students. Learning from subject-matter experts at DoBS, FDIC (invited), the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and executive managers of

several of PA’s community banks, the students will receive hands-on training and obtain a greater understanding of what happens behind the scenes at a community bank.

The Next Generation Bankers Academy is designed for rising college sophomores, juniors, and seniors with an interest in banking, finance, technology, community and economic development, marketing, human resources and more. In order to apply students must either attend a Pennsylvania four-year college/university or be a resident of Pennsylvania. Applicants with at least a 3.0 GPA are encouraged to apply, but GPA will not be the sole criterion for selection. Admission to the Next Generation Bankers Academy is limited and competitive. There is no cost to apply and participation in the program is free of charge. Students will be responsible for their own transportation.

If you know a young person, that may be an interested candidate for this Academy, please provide them a copy of the enclosed flyer and direct them to the online registration information. Encourage them to visit http://www.dobs.pa.gov to learn more and to apply. Help us help you to grow community bankers for the future.
