Anniversary of “I Have A Dream” Speech

To Our Visionary Members,

Fifty-seven years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech to a crowd of over 250,000 from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. It is an inspirational address that I have grown to better appreciate in today’s America. It has become a personal guide to the work I have been involved with here at the Chamber & CREDC. It is a vision for a better America that inspires us to make our region better.

It is a positive address with a positive message, a message of inspiration and hope and a message about a positive future for his own family, for Black Americans and all Americans. In a little over 15 minutes, Dr. King’s inspired delivery set a clear goal for our collective futures. We clearly have made progress from 57 years ago, but just to be clear, we have more to do. We can do it together.

The “I Have a Dream” speech is available to read or listen to HERE. My simple request of you today is to read it. It’s the articulation of a vision we can all support.
