Alexander Receives Multiple PAK Awards

Alexander Building Construction Co., as part of the Butz Family of Companies, recently received multiple PAK Awards.

PAK is a combination of the Pennsylvania Builders Exchange (P), American Subcontractors Association of Central PA (A), and the Keystone Contractors Association (K).  The Pak Awards recognize the preeminent individuals and companies of Central PA Commercial Construction. Projects of the Year awards were given in three categories: less than $5 million, $5 million – $25 million and more than $25 million.  There was one winner per award category.  Project judging was based on the following criteria: Collaboration/Teamwork, Construction Quality & Craftsmanship, Project Execution/Scale and Safety.

Alexander received the award in the $5-$25 million category for the Mt. Nittany Medical Center Cardiovascular Pavilion project. The Pavilion was a 26,000 sf overbuild addition above the fully-occupied Emergency Department. Lean construction techniques and technology were used throughout this project to maximize communication and collaboration.

Alexander employees were also recipients of the following awards at the event:

  • Charlie Thiemann, Senior Project Manager for Alexander received the Keystone Contractors Association (KCA) Top Young Leader Award.  This award is given to emerging leaders within the KCA contractor membership who display leadership qualities in the construction industry and the community.
  • Alexander Superintendent, Steve Motyka received the inaugural Thomas George Memorial Community Service Award given by KCA to construction workers displaying exemplary volunteer efforts within the community and excellence on the construction site.
  • Mike Sgriccia, Senior Project Manager for Alexander, State College was recognized for winning the Young Leader award in 2018.

The inaugural awards ceremony took place on February 20 the Crowne Plaza Harrisburg.
