Harrisburg, PA, March 9, 2016 . . . Alexander Building Construction Co., part of The Butz Family of Companies, recently completed an expansion to the Operating Suite at Williamsport Regional Medical Center in Williamsport, PA.
The project was the interior fit out of over 25,000 square feet of existing shelled space within the patient tower and contains three new operating rooms, two heart catheterization labs, two EP Labs (one operational and one future) and 33 new Pre-OP and PACU bays. The project required significant upgrades and modifications to existing mechanical and electrical systems serving occupied areas.
“This project required extensive planning and coordination by the construction management team and our staff to accomplish numerous utility shutdowns and equipment tie-ins required for the project.” said Dieter Reichmann, Administrative Director of Facilities for Susquehanna Health System. “Alexander exceeded our expectations with the level of communication and coordination they provided to manage these elements of the project and well as their concern for the health and safety of our patients and our staff.”
Features of the $7,500,000 expansion project include:
- Two General Operating Rooms
- Cardiac Operating Room
- Two Catheterization Labs
- Two EP Labs (1 operational / 1 future)
- 33-bed Pre-Op/PACU Unit
- Physician Lounge
- On-Call Room
“Our teams that work in occupied hospitals understand the importance of coordinating our work with our client’s critical operations and the importance of keeping our construction work segregated from patients and staff,” said Rick Seitz, President of Alexander Building Construction Co. “We are very proud to have been part of Susquehanna Health’s team on this important expansion of cardiac care services in Lycoming County.”
