Central Pennsylvania-based RLS Construction Group was contracted by the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide renovations at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, in Lebanon, PA to create an Acute Care Unit. The space to be renovated is available due to the recent relocation of the Surgical Suite, and will provide an efficient, post-surgical, in-patient nursing unit.
“We are fortunate to have been involved in the renovations and upgrades to the Surgical Suite,” said Robert Schopfer, President and CEO of RLS Construction Group. “Because we have been working with the Lebanon VA staff for these upgrades, it gives us the ability to hit the ground running for these next renovations.”
Work for the Acute Care Unit will involve demolition, general construction, and alterations, as well as new mechanical, electrical and other system updates. The space will operate 24-hours a day, 7-days a week and accommodate one (1) to two (2) beds, so patients receive the best possible care, in a comforting and healing environment.
“Based on our past work at the facility, RLS understands the procedures and processes that the medical staff currently use, which helps us do our work more efficiently,” said Schopfer. “Since we have first-hand knowledge of not only the facility, but the intricacies of the surgical services department, we know we are going to produce an end result that meets the VA’s specific needs.”
