Tres Hermanos Moves into the City of Harrisburg with help from CREDC
HARRISBURG, PA (May 12, 2010) - The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC (HRC/CREDC) announced today that it partnered with Mid Penn Bank to provide financing to Tres Hermanos, an authentic Mexican restaurant and retail store. The financing package enabled the company to buy and make improvements to a business condo located at 712 S. Cameron Street, Unit F, Dauphin County. The building provides the company with more space and better parking from which to grow their business.
Ricardo Ortiz Gutierrez and his wife Anabel celebrated the grand opening of Tres Hermanos in November 2004. They are of Hispanic dissent and are part of a close knit ethnic community here in the Harrisburg area. Ricardo spent several years working in restaurants around the region and gained valuable experience in managing and running a retail and food operation. He felt he could put these skills to better use fulfilling the needs of the Hispanic community in Harrisburg. Therefore they opened their first business and began providing the community with an outlet to purchase authentic Mexican foods, goods and meals. His product line includes beans, noodles, peppers, seasoning, breads, pastries, snacks, DVDs, CDs, clothing, shoes, boots, jewelry and cosmetics. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner and a la Carte chips and salsas. The new location is only about 2 miles from their previous storefront located in Steelton, however the move provides the business with much needed space and additional parking, both vital to retail growth.
"Public-Private Partnership will be key to the rebuilding and revitalization of Harrisburg," stated Mayor Linda D. Thompson. "These comprehensive plans forge a stronger, more vibrant economy for the City and the surrounding region. The City of Harrisburg applauds the work of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC and Mid Penn Bank. We wish much success to Mr. Gutierrez and Tres Hermanos restaurant."
HRC/CREDC packaged a Community and Economic Development (CED) loan application on behalf of Tres Hermanos. The CED loan filled a financing gap of $100,000 needed for project completion. This loan leveraged another $315,000 provided by Mid Penn Bank and $45,000 in equity creating a total economic impact in the City of Harrisburg of $460,000. The CED loan program is designed to stimulate the expansion and assist in the retention of small business in distressed municipalities across our state. This important program is administered by the Commonwealth's Department of Community and Economic Development and is funded with the ongoing support of the Administration and the General Assembly.
