Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC President Selected to Participate in National Program on Regional Development

HARRISBURG REGIONAL CHAMBER & CREDC PRESIDENT SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL PROGRAM ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

HARRISBURG (JULY 23, 2009) - The American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) has selected David Black, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC, to participate in its Regional Sustainable Development (RSD) Fellowship, funded by the Ford Foundation. He will be one of 32 Chamber Executives nationwide to participate in this program.

Beginning in the fall of 2009, two groups of Fellows will begin the 12-month program that will deepen Fellows' understanding of the policies and practices that lead to long-term economic and community growth.  Each fellow will work on a regional action project that will address an opportunity for or barrier to creating sustainable, inclusive prosperity for their own region.

"Spurring regional, sustainable development is one of the major issues facing civic organizations, especially chambers of commerce, in the 21st century," says Mick Fleming, president of ACCE.  "This program immerses regional leaders in integrated economic and community growth strategies that foster greater equity of opportunity for all sectors, neighborhoods and individuals."

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC serves as a catalyst for promoting growth and quality of life in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties by providing a unique blend of business, community and economic development and advocacy services under one roof to boost our economic vitality and livability as a region. HRC/CREDC has been accredited with four stars from the United States Chamber of Commerce.
