HARRISBURG (June 10, 2009) -  The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC has partnered with the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Industry for an electricity program, exclusively for its members.  The Lancaster Chamber's BizCorp, the organization's wholly owned for-profit subsidiary, has selected Constellation NewEnergy as the service provider for its member-exclusive Electricity Procurement Program.

"Electric deregulation is really about competition benefitting users by gaining the ability to get competitive rates for electricity on the open market," stated Dave Black, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.  "By joining together, businesses from the Harrisburg Region and the Lancaster area can create a significant pool of electricity users that will get the attention and, we believe, will result in better rates by working together than if businesses were to go at it alone.  The other benefit of this program, we are announcing today, is having a credible and reliable NewEnergy supplier.  Constellation NewEnergy comes with a good track record and we believe will deliver both service and value for our members who choose to participate in this program as rate caps come off late this year."

"Constellation NewEnergy is excited to have been chosen as the recommended retail NewEnergy supplier," added Brian Weatherford, VP of Sales for Constellation NewEnergy.  "We look forward to delivering exceptional pricing, value and the best-in-class service our customers have come to count on in all of today's deregulated markets.  We have successfully developed similar electricity programs with a multitude of other trade associations and chambers in helping their members implement NewEnergy-management strategies and smart purchasing decisions."

Utility Solutions, Inc. (USI) worked with the Lancaster Chamber's BizCorp in the development of the Electricity Procurement Program, which was created to assist chamber members in navigating the post rate cap period which takes place for PPL customers commencing January 1, 2010.  As a result of USI's experience in monitoring market conditions, BizCorp has been able to complete a Request for Proposal process and select Constellation NewEnergy at a time when market based electric prices are at a several year low.  Businesses participating in the program will have access to more competitive pricing for their electricity, resulting in savings as compared to PPL's currently estimated default service provider pricing.

Art Morris, President of Utility Solutions, Inc. stated, "Everyone is aware of the extraordinary increases in NewEnergy costs associated with all NewEnergy commodities - oil/gasoline, natural gas and electricity (except in those areas where rate caps are still in place).  Fortunately, the wholesale market cost for these commodities have dropped substantially over the past 9 months providing a window of opportunity for consumers to reduce the impact of price increases that all PPL customers will experience when rate caps are removed.  Utility Solutions, Inc. is glad to be assisting both the Harrisburg Regional & Lancaster Chamber members in shopping for electricity in the post deregulation environment, allowing them to band together to deal with the challenge of the impending rate cap removal."

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC serves as a catalyst for promoting growth and quality of life in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry Counties by providing a unique blend of business, community and economic development and advocacy services under one roof to boost our economic vitality and livability as a region. HRC/CREDC has been accredited with four stars from the United States Chamber of Commerce.
